In this article, I talk about one of the key components to finding inner peace that can be used throughout your entire life.

“None of your inner peace can shift when you remain in your element.” — Skylar Rae

Inner peace is a psychological or spiritual calm that remains intact despite any potential stressors. Additionally, it can carry you through tough times that try to burst your sense of peace.

Your element can be anything from a passion, hobby, career, or even a morning/night routine you enjoy. When people say they are in their element they are referring to something that they are good at and also enjoy doing; it may be something that comes naturally.

For example, if you are in your element when you are on a run you might notice that inner peace comes quite naturally. You barely have to search for it because when you do something you enjoy so much it brings an automatic sense of calm, light, and love into your being.

That calm, light, and love that you begin to embody come together to provide you that sense of inner peace. This is one reason why it’s so important to find time to fit the things we love to do into our lives. It gives us balance.

Let’s look at another example. Say someone begins learning how to cook when they are younger and it soon becomes something they are very passionate about. Cooking makes them feel at peace, it’s calming. At this point, it has become a hobby. Eventually, this individual becomes a professional chef. In this case, this person followed their passion and found their element.

No matter what happens in the world around them they can always go back to what they love most to bring them that inner peace which in this example is cooking.

Finding something that does this for you is very important for your mental, spiritual, and emotional health.

Being in your element is more than a passion, it is a purpose. The fact is that when you are in your purpose you are happier, more relaxed, and have more consistent inner peace.

It is also important to note that in order to find that true inner peace you can’t use your passion as an escape from your feelings.

You have to address your feelings. Suppressing them with an activity will only make you feel better short-term. However, in order to have that inner peace for life, you must confront your emotions.

Working, practicing, or enjoying your element is best to be used as something that can bring you added joy to your life instead of a feeling suppressor. This way it can fully bring you that inner peace we all need to harvest for our lives.

Therefore, my tip to you is to find something you love to do. Is it yoga? Taking pictures? Crunching numbers? Observing behavior? Playing the piano?

Whatever it is, whether it’s a hobby or career, find time to incorporate it into your life more often.

If you already know exactly what your element is then great! Now, pay attention to the peace it brings you when you are doing it. How does it make you feel? Also, find gratitude in it.

There are many more parts to finding inner peace besides finding your element that I did not mention; this is just one part of the big picture.

However, as long as you are in your element and continue to practice it, without judgment, you are one step closer to having inner peace for life.

Sincerely,
